What is fear?

“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” — Dale Carnegie
This is my first thoughts on this very heavy subject. I can think back as long as I remember the many and constant thoughts of fear that occupied my mind as a youngster. I didn’t realize it then but now I understand what was happening.
In every type of fear there is a large unknown. This is the case in typical fears such as fear of heights, spiders, dark places, water, and so on. But here I want to touch on a specific fear, the fear that keeps us at bay, the fear that immobilizes most people and keeps us from achieving our dreams or at lest going for them.
This for me hits home because for the longest time I have wanted to follow my dreams and make films but because of one thing or another (mostly my own excuse and fears) I have managed to put it off for many many years. Now, I have literally put my money where my mouth is and gone out on a limb to, what I believe is my true calling, be a filmmaker.
Like most people that have been in this situation, we know that months and years will pass. We’ll run, ignore, and hide from what’s within you but sooner or later it will come back to haunt you.
We’re all not new to fear. Think about it! Since we we were born, learning how to walk, going to school, riding a bike, etc. We all have overcome so much…why do we not keep going?

Perhaps the main objective of this site is to share some of my ideas running around in my head for some time now. I have always been a very visual person and since the age of 10 I have had a love affair with the cinema but never gave it the respect and attention it asked of me, mostly out of fear. Today, that has changed.
